Autophagy: What is it and how could it be used to our benefit?

What is autophagy?

Autophagy is a cellular regeneration process that occurs when the body is under stress. Various types of stress can kick start this process including, intermittent fasting, high intensity exercise, cold water immersion, extreme heat and altitude changes.

During the process of autophagy, our cells alert our mitochondria about a changes in external conditions. This alert causes the mitochondria to begin to repair and eliminate any damaged or broken parts of our cells to create the strongest environment to ward off any potential danger.
